Cambiz DeramBakhsh (May 29th  1942 – November 6th  2021) was an Iranian designer, caricaturist and graphic artist. He won several prestigious international awards and held some independent exhibitions in different countries around the world. He is Kyomars Dermbakhsh’s brother.  

Cambiz was born in Shiraz in 1942. He graduated from Tehran Academy of Fine Arts and started his cooperation with Iranian publications such as Tofigh since he was 14 and continued his work with other Iranian and foreign press such as New York Times, Spiegel, Nebel Shpalter. He had cooperated with Iranian and the world press for more than 60 years, and taught the art of caricature at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran University for a while. 

Cambiz Derambakhsh won awards of the largest and most prestigious international caricature contests in Japan, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, Yugoslavia and other international prizes and also was a referee at several large international caricature exhibitions. He also received Order des Arts et des lettres of France in November 2014. He is the first visual artist in Iran who received this award.

Many of DermBakhsh’s works have found their way to the prestigious museums of the world such as:Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Saba House Art Academy, National Library, Man of Modern Art, Iran Graphic Artists Syndicate Museum, Paris Avignon Museum, Basel Caricature Museum in Switzerland, Gabrovo Caricature Museum in Bulgaria, Hiroshima Museum in Japan, Yugoslavian Anti-War Museum, Caricature Museum of Istanbul in Turkey, Warsaw Caricature Museum in Poland, and Frankfurt City Hall in Germany.

On Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the closing ceremony of the 6th “International Festival of Art for Peace”, the highest prize of “Art for Peace” was awarded to Kambiz Darmbaksh and three other artists.

He was hospitalized in Atieh Hospital in Tehran on November 1, 2021 due to corona virus and died on November 6th  2021 at the age of 79.
