Shirin Neshat, born in Qazvin in 1957, is an Iranian artist and filmmaker. Her photography, video and cinema explore identity, gender, migration and relationships between individuals and social structures.
Visual Language and Media
Text and image, sound and silence, and layered narratives recur in her work. Photographic series and video installations sit alongside feature films within her practice.

BFA and MFA from the University of California, Berkeley.
