After the third century Hijri, with the widespread adoption of the Naskh script and other innovative scripts, the use of Kufic script gradually declined. By the fifth century Hijri, it was more or less abandoned and found only in decorative and limited applications. Unlike the simple and written form of Kufic script, which adheres to specific rules and principles in writing letters, decorative Kufic script has no specific rules, and its decorative use completely alters the shape of the letters.
